Transitions
Hey again! This past week, I have been learning about the different types of transitions and matches. I attempted to create 3 different videos incorporating transitions. My video clips are below!
Invisible Shot
The invisible shot was quite unique than other video clips because the transition is done without actual editing. To do this, I had to start the second clip at the same frame that concluded the first clip, facing the notebook. Then, I had my friend Eugene turn off the lights before looking up to a different display. After, I whip pan my POV shot to my other friend William in the end for dramatic effect. As for the blur, it honestly was not intended, but I kept it in the clip as it added more suspense. For editing, because it was an invisible shot, all I had to do was place the two clips together and export them as one video.
Dissolve
The dissolve transition involved more editing than filming. To do this, I slowly zoomed in on a Liverpool banner on the wall. I tried to be as steady as possible, re-taking the video a couple of times until movement error was minimal. Then, I downloaded and inserted a Liverpool goal GIF after the first film. Using CapCut, I added one of the dissolve variants for 1 second to transition the two pieces. I tried to match the dissolve in a way that reflected some features in the first video of the Liverpool banner to create a bridge between the two.
Fade
The fade was simple to put together, but it gets the job done. First, I filmed my friend William walking out the door. For the second clip, I filmed him walking in the hallway. Once again, using CapCut, I added a fade-to-black transition between the two pieces to create the scene/setting change between the classroom and hallway. The ease of this transition comes from the fact that all I had to do was place the two video clips next to each other. I did not have to match them up or link any of the elements in the videos because the fade disregards any comparison between the clips it separates.

Mr. Woz would appreciate that dissolve !
