Changing Leaders

 Rayyan Impeached!

Welcome back, everyone! In today's post, I will be going MORE CHANGES that occurred in our movie during the second day of shooting. It was quite a chaotic day, but overall I think everything worked out for the best.

Leadership

Possibly the largest change was the decision to overthrow Rayyan as the lead director of our project. Rayyan was an excellent leader, planning out most of our project timeline. However, on the day of the second shoot, it became evident that Rayyan's vision for our film could not be met, and so we ran into a small argument. After discussing changes as significant as rewriting our entire script to a completely different topic, we finally unanimously agreed that Rayyan should step down as the leader and I, Ahmad, was nominated to take on the role. With that, I proposed some changes that seemed to benefit the film:

Plot changes:

Previously, we planned to have a vlogger and his cameraman exploring the woods. However, I realized that this concept seemed too complicated as it would confuse the readers (and us on set) about which scenes would be shot by an exterior cameraman and which scenes are taken by the cameraman character. To settle the confusion, I decided to scrap the idea of a vlogger and simplify the characters, making the two explorers just two adventurous friends who enjoy taking risks and exploring. This had an immediate impact as our film recordings went A LOT smoother and we did the entire movie in almost half the time that we spent for just 1 minute of screen time in the previous script.

Acting changes:

Before, we had Rayyan as the vlogger, Eugene as his cameraman, me as the assistive friend, and Edison has the dark figure. However, in my new script, the roles altered slightly. The two main actors remained the same, but Rayyan and Eugene were now just two close friends who have a passion urban legends and exploring. I kept my role as the assistive friend (I also was the exterior cameraman of the film) and Edison continued his role as the antagonizing dark figure. Another change was the introduction of a NEW character. During our shoot, we stumbled upon one of our friends, Justin, who was relaxing in the nature. We immediately knew that we had to bring him into our film. Since we were recording the climax of the film, we all had the same idea of using him as a corpse, and so we did just that. Though he has no lines and does not even reveal his face, we use his body as a dead person that was murdered by the dark figure, and this created a huge uplift in our suspense!

Overall, all these changes to our film were made in just under an hour, but they proved to be really effective! We are proud of these changes and I am excited to show you guys more about them in an upcoming blog post dedicated to this day of filming! Stay tuned!
