Supporting Character Analysis

The Remaining Cast

Hello, everyone! Today, I will be discussing the rest of the cast: Me (Ahmad), Eugene, and Rayyan. Similar to my previous post about the protagonist, Edison, I will be analyzing the physical and psychological features of these characters and how they are significant to expressing their role.

Ahmad (Me)! - The Friend

My physical appearance is often described as a slim, yet robust build. It fits my character in the movie as a calm, chill guy. I will wear a tee with sweatpants, allowing for a easy, able outfit for a forest adventure. This casual appearance compliments my laid-back personality. The best prop I will be using is a flashlight, signifying me as the direct, intelligent man in the group. I will be ready to reveal what lies ahead, both realistically and metaphorically. My trustworthy nature is essential to the comfort of my friends, even though it may get complicated in the forest... Naturally, I am someone who always thinks before I act and break down every situation I'm in for the best possible outcome, and this would reflect perfectly in my character. Further, I offer solid contrast between Edison, who is more on the spontaneous end. As for my psychological ability, I show little emotion even in drastic manners, so it will be interesting to see how this changes when I encounter the horror in the forest...

Eugene - The Cameraman

Eugene has a compact build, nothing too far from the average side character. His outfit of a normal T-shirt and light jacket, along with cargo shorts proves his relaxed, casual character. As the cameraman, his camera prop will directly tell the audience his purpose of being in the forest. Eugene has a silly personality, but he can be serious in the right moments. For this, he serves as the perfect cameraman to be lively with the audience but show his personality change when the situation gets intense. Similar to Edison, he is impulsive, but to a lesser degree. He is more of the middle ground between Edison and me. This can be seen in his psychological/emotional state, where he is attempting to help his friends while also being terrified himself.

Rayyan - Grim Reaper

Rayyan will play the antagonist of the film. He has a tall body, so he can easily look intimidating when dressed in his full dark robe, along with the hood and mask. The complete outfit on his body would create the scary foe in the movie. The costume would especially be significant in its ability to blend into the dark, allowing him to hide and pop up in a threatening manner. His prop - the scythe - reveals his weapon and his powerful demeanor, ready to inflict lethal harm. Another significant part of this character is that he has no dialogue in the movie. His silent screen time creates a unique tension that seems suspenseful in itself, creating an anxious feeling in both the other characters and the audience. Sometimes, a lack of information is more than enough to formalize and establish a character, especially an eerie one. This is no different with Rayyan's role.
