Title Sequence

 Title Sequence Decisions

Welcome back, everyone! Today, I will present to you the options my group members and I came up with for our title sequence. In the end, I will also reveal which one we finally chose. Let's get into it!

My Design

I proposed a title sequence with the Grim Reaper, posting him in the middle of a black/white accented forest, staring at the audience while holding his scythe at an impulsive angle. The movie title was placed above the figure in black font. This title sequence focuses on the antagonist and horror element of our film. However, we all agreed that my design was more bias to horror and failed to address many of the other key elements of the film.

Rayyan's Designs

Rayyan went above and beyond and came up with two designs. The first title sequence shows a man standing behind a vehicle in a forest. The dirt floor and branchy trees bring out the setting and suspense of our movie. Overlapping the picture is the title Forgotten Trails in a ghost-white curvature with an illuminating tint, adding in that supernatural feel. In my opinion, this design seemed to lack the "wow factor" that we need because it seemed vague and simplistic.

Rayyan's second design was almost the opposite of his first. It had a bright glow to it, showing intense contrast between the bright green/white background of the sky and forest compared to the two dark black figures standing in between two thick trees. The vibrancy was a nice touch, but it seemed to divert the theme of the movie from a suspenseful one to a more fantasy, dream-like film.

Eugene's Design

Eugene's design was interesting. It focused more on the supernatural component of the film, utilizing a bright, neon-green light and overall green-hue to create this divine effect. This compliments the setting excellently as it pushes the greenery of the nature further to the audience, highlighting the connection between an unexplored forest with the conflict of spirits and the unseen

Edison's Design

Edison's title sequence has an unsettling appearance with its dark, shadowy forest that seems difficult to look through because of the fog and eerie feel. It almost seems supernatural because of its oddly-simple look. However, this title sequence was not the best idea because it seemingly only portrayed the eerie setting without any of the other components, a similar issue with some of our other ideas.

Final Design

After a unanimous agreement following multiple discussions, we chose Eugene's title sequence as the official design for Forgotten Trails because it seemed to be the most complete design of them all. It highlighted everything, including the color scheme, characters, setting, and the various themes of horror, adventure, and suspense. It was also very eye-catching, in a good way. It will definitely attract audiences and can say plenty about our film to someone who has never heard of the plot or storyline.
